Fresh
Breath – naturally
Decades
ago, when both toothpaste and mouthspray were unknown, it
was customary to eat an apple before going to bed. People
were convinced that this kept the gums and teeth healthy.
It was probably the best and cheapest means of mouth hygiene,
because the malic acid cleaned the teeth excellently and was
beneficial to the mouth flora. Nowadays children take brushing
their teeth for granted. But, although all kinds of antibiotic
and chemical oral products are in use, tooth decay has increased
so much that most children are affected.
Among many of the natives in Africa, Asia and America whom
Alfred Vogel visited he never saw a toothbrush, but still
saw excellent teeth, as long as they kept away from western
influence. As soon as they adopted the European eating habits
their favourable condition changed. However, this does not
mean that we can do without tooth and mouth hygiene.
But if our efforts in this regard are to be successful, we
must first avoid refined and enriched items, changing over
to natural foods. The body will then receive the necessary
minerals and vital substances from the food. This will not
only help the teeth to healthy growth, but will contribute
to keeping them this way.
In view of the modern problem of calcium deficiency, Vogel
also advised taking Urticalcin
as a supplement.
Vogel felt that toothpaste and mouthspray with chemical additives
should not be used, because the salivary glands would absorb
them and strong chemicals were detrimental to the entire body.
This was not the case with natural herbal products, of which
there were sufficient to provide thorough and healthy mouth
hygiene.
A herbal mouthspray is very useful for mouth bacteria. In
East Africa Alfred Vogel discovered a little flower belonging
to the Spilanthes family. It looks like the centre of a chamomile
flower. The natives chew it to maintain proper mouth bacteria.
It also works on all kinds of fungi and harmful bacteria that
can cause unpleasant complaints yet is safe to use.
Wanting to make the benefits of this little African herb available
to others, Vogel decided to add an extract from it to the
already proven mouthspray, known as Dentaforce.
This made it even more effective for oral hygiene. Other ingredients
of the mouthspray are the refreshing essential oils of mint
and anise which, along with the anti-inflammatory sage extract,
sanicle and pimpernel root, that soothe irritated sensitive
mucous membranes, make this a healthful spray to use throughout
the day.
