Q I am writing to see if you could help me. Everything I eat makes me burp. I have had hospital tests and nothing shows up. Medicine doesn’t help. There must be something in the food that I am eating that is doing it.
A Try taking Centaurium tincture (10 drops in a little water, 10 minutes before food). This will improve your digestive function overall. Also, chew each mouthful very thoroughly and don’t drink with your meal. I have written a booklet on Healthy Digestion, which you can obtain by phoning 0845 608 5858.
Q I am desirous of finding a natural remedy to build up bone density, now that I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. I am in my 82nd year.
A Urticalcin can be an effective remedy for osteoporosis. It helps to ensure the absorption and uptake of calcium to the bones. This can be taken long term and alongside other calcium supplements. It would also be advisable to make sure that you eat plenty of magnesium-rich foods and omit caffeine from your diet.
Q I am 53 years old and well into my change. I have got large fibroids, which are causing a fair bit of discomfort. I don’t really want to have a hysterectomy unless there is no other choice. Are there herbs and foods that will help me, and what should I not be drinking and eating?
A Agnus castus is the herb that will often help this condition. It is important to ensure that your bowel is moving daily and to avoid foods that stress the liver. These include alcohol, caffeine, dairy products, fatty, fried foods, white flour and white sugar.
Q I am at my wits end. I have a four year old who constantly has a cold which entails a really thick green mucus from her nose and also a tickly cough which is driving us mad. Do you have any ideas to combat/keep these colds away PLEASE?
A Have you taken her off dairy products? They tend to cause excess mucus production in sensitive people, and removing them for about three months will clear the problem up significantly if she is sensitive to them. There are plenty of good, nutritious alternatives available in health stores and supermarkets these days. Also, the company, Alpro provides information on giving children a dairy-free diet, if you look them up on the net.
Supplements that would be useful include Plantago, which helps clear mucus from the ear/nose/throat tract, and Echinaforce, which improves immune function. They are available combined in a tincture called Echinacea Complex.
