It's a Man Thing
Some men, while not exactly suffering in silence, are reticent about seeking help for general health issues. Read how things improved for Mike and Ron when they decided to risk asking advice.
Name: Mike
Age: 44
Occupation: IT Helpline Supervisor
Problem:
Lack of energy, digestive irritation, frequent colds and general feeling of being run down.
Lifestyle:
Long hours working on computers, powered by many cups of tea and coffee. Sweet tooth requiring frequent sugary snacks. Limited exercise and often inadequate amounts of sleep.
Solution:
Mike was advised to avoid tea and coffee until his energy levels improved, as these beverages can block the absorption of iron and potassium, making you feel tired. He started to drink more water and Rooibosch tea instead. He was given Floradix, an iron tonic, for a two week period to boost his energy initially.
Mike’s larder was revitalised, with more fresh fruit and vegetables being installed and dried fruit taking the place of sugary biscuits and chocolate. He was given Lepicol and Silicea liquid to soothe his insides, and instructed on eating in a relaxed manner instead of bolting his food whilst hunched over a computer.
As Mike enjoyed jogging, he started to prioritise a half-hour run several times a week, and began to walk to work whenever the weather was suitable. Getting sufficient exercise to aid your circulation is vital; and exercising produces chemicals in your body that make you feel happy, which is good for your immune system. To aid his immune system further, he was given Echinaforce to take daily, to help ward off the bugs that frequently circulated his office environment.
Lastly, he was given Bilberry tincture to take long term, to protect his eyes from the negative effect of constantly staring at a computer screen.
Result
Within a very short space of time Mike was feeling far better than he’d felt for years. Although he didn’t stick to the letter of the treatment plan for very long, he realised how much good it had done him and went back to it whenever he started to feel dodgy again.
Name: Ron
Age: 65
Occupation: Retired
Problem:
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH) – a long and complicated name for a condition that causes men to experience problems with urination.
Lifestyle:
Ron had looked after his health since his forties, exercising regularly and eating plenty of unprocessed foods. He didn’t smoke but liked drinking socially.
Solution:
BPH is a condition that most men will experience as they get older. It involves the growth of the prostate gland, which gradually squashes the tube through which urine leaves the bladder, making it harder for men to empty the bladder fully. This leaves them feeling uncomfortable, as if they constantly need to go to the loo, whilst only being able to produce a sluggish trickle when they get there. They often have to get up several times in the night, and may start getting urinary tract infections due to the stagnant urine that they are unable to expel from the bladder.
Fortunately, there is an excellent natural solution in the shape of a plant called Saw Palmetto. Oil from the berries of this plant reduces the inflammation in the prostate, causing it to release its stranglehold on the neck of the bladder.
Result:
Taking Prostasan Saw Palmetto capsules full of the oil reduced Ron’s symptoms within weeks. As he no longer had to get up at all hours of the night, he got far more sleep, which also improved his quality of life. He has stayed on the supplement long term to prevent the problem returning.
