Welcome to a Healthier Life
When people talk glibly about tension, they are only thinking of mental tension. A muscle is capable of contraction and relaxation. In muscular spasm the blood is squeezed out of the spastic muscle and oxygen cannot get to the tissues. Nature then gives its warning, which we call ‘pain’.
It is an established fact that everything in nature is in a state of molecular tension – nothing stands still, for stillness is death and destruction. Tension is a natural state of being and its function. It is the most important factor in physical life – it is responsible for the birth of form, controlling the harmonious distribution of energy through the body.
It is this state of tension that preserves the integrity of form. The molecular construction of anything, be it animate or inanimate, is very dependent on this natural law. Call it life, health, energy or what you will, tension is the factor that keeps molecules from flying off into space.
The tensile strength of a human cell is an electrical phenomenon and is allied to its frequency or rate of vibration. When this is altered by unhealthy living, the frequency and tension is altered. The end result is disease and disharmony.
Tension, as we know it, is muscular in nature, whether it be produced by the cold weather (we automatically tense ourselves), emotional stimuli or other factors. We know what happens when a muscle remains in a state of tension for any length of time.
Inner conflict and emotional upsets are what cause most functional disease and these factors, when persistent, actually precipitate soluble calcium from the bloodstream into joints. Mind has thus become matter and the results are arthritis, rheumatism, lumbago and other illnesses. This is called the ‘negative miracle’.
The ‘positive miracle’ is to supplant the latter by such tendencies as joy, happiness and other ideal conditions for survival.
